The Benefits of Flanged Gate Valves and Their Differences from Flanged Butterfly Valves

1. What are the benefits of using a flanged gate valve?

When it comes to ball valves, this is one of the valves. It is used in many industries, but do you know the flanged gate valve? Different valves have different characteristics and have their own advantages in use. So what are the benefits of using a flanged gate valve?

Among various valves, the flow resistance of the ball valve is small, and after the entire valve is opened, the diameter of the entire channel is the same as the pipe, so the medium will flow very smoothly without any resistance.

In particular, the flanged end gate valve can be completely closed by rotating 90°, which is very convenient and quick to open and close.

Compared with other valves, the flanged gate valve has the characteristics of light weight, small volume, convenient and suitable for various pipeline installations, and easy installation.

And it has good airtightness, and there is almost no leakage of medium during use. Especially when conveying gas, the flanged gate valve has a very good throttling effect on the gas.

The flanged gate valve contains a locking device, which can ensure that the influence of misoperation on the flanged gate valve switch is reduced during the operation process. That is to say, the flanged gate valve has a locking hole in the fully open and fully closed positions of the valve to avoid the valve open and close caused by arbitrary touch.

The valve stem of the flange gate valve has an anti-flying structure, and the valve stem is generally a bottom-mounted type, which can effectively prevent the valve from flying out under pressure. Moreover, this structure is made of metal, which can ensure that the valve stem is sealed whether it is a fire or a high temperature operation.

The above are the advantages of using flanged gate valves. The industry generally believes that this is a relatively good valve. It is often used in pipeline transportation and has a long service life.

2. What is the difference between flanged gate valve and flanged butterfly valve?

There are still some differences between flanged gate valves and flanged butterfly valves. Before we use these two kinds of valves, we need to figure out the difference between these two kinds of valves, so what is the specific difference?

Flanged gate valve is a kind of gate valve, which is used to cut off the circulation of the medium in the pipeline and can only be fully opened or fully closed. The working principle is that the gate with the stem together to rise and fall in a straight line movement, the stem has trapezoidal threads, flange gate valve through the nut on the top of the valve and the guide groove on the valve body, to achieve the stem up and down movement, so that the stem drives the gate movement. The movement direction of the gate is perpendicular to the direction of the fluid medium in the pipeline. Flanged gate valves are commonly used in a wide range of applications, such as water supply and drainage, municipal construction, petroleum, chemical, environmental protection and other fields.

There are many types of flanged gate valves, which can be divided into soft-sealed gate valves and hard-sealed gate valves according to the sealing surface, and can be divided into open stem gate valves and dark stem gate valves according to their structural forms.

Flanged butterfly valve is a kind of butterfly valve. Compared with flanged gate valve, flanged butterfly valve has a simpler structure, smaller volume and lighter weight, and is more suitable for large-diameter valves.

And with the improvement of manufacturing technology, in some fields, flanged butterfly valves have been used in pipeline systems instead of flanged gate valves.

Flanged butterfly valve can be divided into soft sealing butterfly valve and hard sealing butterfly valve according to the sealing surface. According to the structure, it can be divided into centerline butterfly valve, single eccentric butterfly valve, double eccentric butterfly valve and triple eccentric butterfly valve.

There are also differences between flanged gate valves and flanged butterfly valves in terms of driving methods. Flanged gate valves mainly have three types: handwheel drive, pneumatic and electric; while flanged butterfly valves have handle operation, turbine drive, pneumatic and electric.
