Flanged Gate Valves

Flanged gate valves is very common on pipeline. The opening and closing part of flanged gate valve is the wedge, the direction of movement of the wedge is perpendicular to the direction of the fluid, the gate valve can only be fully opened and fully closed. It's not for the used of adjustment. The wedge has two sealing surfaces, and the two sealing faces commonly form wedge shape.

Flanged gate valve is installed onto the pipeline by the flanges at both ends. This type of valve should generally be installed horizontally in the pipeline. When the gate valve is closed, the sealing surface can be sealed only by medium pressure, i.e. by pressing the sealing surface of the wedge to the seat on the other side to ensure the sealing is perfect.

The wedge of the gate valve moves in a straight line with the stem. If the stem moves up and down together withe the wedge, the gate valves is called OS & Y gate valve. If the stem keep the same position during close/open operation, the gate valve is called NRS gate valve.

Advantages of Flanged Gate Valves

Fluid resistance is small, thus the brush and erosion caused by the medium is small.
Open and close operation is more labor-saving.
It dosen't affect the flow direction of the medium and does not cause spoiling or reduce the pressure.
Simple structure and short Face to Face.

Flanged Gate Valve Installation

Before installing the valve, please check the valve model, connection size and pay attention to the flow dirction of medium to ensure all are in accordance with the valve requirements.
When installing the valve, you must reserve the necessary space for the valve's operation.
The wiring of the drive device shall be carried out according to the wiring diagram.
Before installation, check the valve cavity and sealing surface and other parts, make sure there's no dirt, sand etc..
Evenly fasten the bolts at each connection site.
Check the tightness of the packing, not only to ensure the sealing of packing, but also to ensure that the wedge can open/close easily.
The gate valve must be maintained regularly and must not collide and squeeze at will, so as not to affect the seal.
